Sanjay Agarwal

Chief Executive Officer and Director

As CEO and Board of Director, Sanjay Agarwal leads Salem Steel with experience and a drive for excellence. Through his decades of experience in finance, manufacturing, distribution and sales, he knows the business hierarchy and subdivisions like the back of his hand. Additionally, due to his experience in the electronics manufacturing, water treatment, automobiles, and hospitality industries, he has had firsthand experience with how steel market works, pushing him to keep pushing Salem to bigger and better successes.

Sanjay’s drive for excellence comes from his past. He gained his entrepreneurial spirit from his childhood, when he ran the family business in India, wanting to push and promote his family business to sell more and more product. After going through college, Sanjay then began his career as a Mechanical engineer with Wartsila Diesel in India, where he learned firsthand the technical expertise required to make things work, whether it be a big ship or a large corporation. After that experience, he has secured many more jobs throughout his professional career, including, but not limited to, project manager, SCM manager, director of finance and CFO of a startup. With his experience at almost every level in the business hierarchy, Sanjay can break apart complex problems into the tiny principles which govern them and use both his business and engineering experience to come up with dynamic solutions to fit the ever-intense needs of the market and his shareholders.

Sanjay has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Pune University, a Master of Accounting from Walsh College in Troy, Michigan, and a CPA from the state of North Carolina.

In his limited free time, Sanjay enjoys watching football, basketball, and cricket.


Jim Trochanowski

Senior Vice President

Jim graduated from Princeton University and had 28 years’ experience with Olympus Optical Co in their Medical, Surgical, and Industrial Divisions rising from a Sales and Product intern to Vice President of Operations, working with all the international divisions of Olympus.

His diverse background in Logistics, Inventory Control, Supply Chain, Warehousing, Distribution, Business Development, Sales, Order Entry, Quality and Compliance will serve Salem Steel well. He has managed all aspects of these functions as well as served on Olympus’ board.

His general management skills will provide Salem Steel’s customers with superior service that they can expect and deserve.


Thomas Thoelen

Vice President of Finance

Tom graduated from Montclair University with a degree in accounting. He has been a Corporate Controller for 25 years in both manufacturing and service related industries.

He started his career with a division of American Optical and spent most of his career with Barry Callebaut, the second largest chocolate manufacturer in the world, working in conjunction with management at the local level and divisional levels, all the way through to the International headquarters.

His strength is the ability to work with all facets of an organization in order to optimize internal functions, and to provide better service to its customers, while keeping costs controlled to allow for future growth.


Patrick O'Brien

Executive Sales

Patrick is a 1997 graduate of the University of Kansas and is a resident of Chicago,IL. Patrick has over twelve years experience in the steel tubing industry and began his career in 1998 with Leavitt Tube. He started with Leavitt Tube as an Inside Sales Representative supporting customers throughout the United States. After 3 years Patrick was promoted to Outside Sales Representative. Throughout his Outside Sales tenure Patrick covered the Midwest Territory dealing with both Service Centers and OEMs. His strong work ethic and knowledge of his customers needs have allowed him to gain their trust and respect throughout his career. Patrick joined the Salem Steel team in May, 2010, and is a welcome addition to our staff.


Daniel (Danny) Wolfe

Fluid Power Products Manager

Danny graduated from LeTourneau University in Longview, TX in 1994 with a B.S. in Industrial Management.

After graduation, he spent the next 21 years of his career at Scot Industries. His experience includes: hands-on training and operation of honing equipment and metallurgical laboratory studies, eight years in Sales and Quality Control, eight years in Plant Operation and Management, and most recently in New Business Development with additional focus on working with customers to provide engineered solutions for difficult material applications. This broad spectrum of experience, combined with a commitment to the customer, exemplify his belief that customer service, quality, and competitive prices are the most important aspects of the sales process.

Danny joined Salem Steel in early 2016 to head the Fluid Power Products Division with the goal of creating a high quality, economically priced premium supplier of honed and SRB tubing. Additionally offering chrome plated rod, to Salem’s distributor network and OEM hydraulic cylinder manufacturers.


Ralph Corallo

Traffic Manager

Ralph studied Industrial Administration at NJIT with a major concentration in Industrial Relations. His career in traffic and logistics started in 1998 when he was hired by Coca-Cola Bottling Company of NY as a distribution supervisor. He continued in that role for 20 years working with the planning (logistic) department in load creation within the SAP Business One operating system.

In just over 4 years at Salem Steel, Ralph has gained an understanding of moving FTL's and LTL's throughout the US and has accrued a vast network of carriers and warehouse management experience overseeing Salem Steel traffic daily operation.



Todd Derleth

Warehouse Manager – St. Louis

Todd began his career at Salem’s St. Louis facility in 2007. From day one, he’s handled all the duties of a busy warehouse facility, quickly progressing to warehouse manager. He now manages the warehouse team and ensures that our St. Louis operations run smoothly. Todd oversees all in and out bound freight, product inspection (including dimensional and hardness readings), inventory control, employee safety, cycle counts, and product conformance. He follows a continuous improvement mentality to ensure Salem Steel’s quality standards are consistently met and exceeded. Todd’s knowledge has been pivotal in helping Salem to grow into our 70,000 square foot facility.
